But I think that statement by itself, taken out of context, may be doing more harm than good. We need to talk about WHY the likelihood of nuclear war is increasing, if we want to stop it. Russia has repeatedly asked for negotiations, but the "west" consistently refuses. Russia is actually fighting in SELF-DEFENSE, though the "western" press is making the opposite appear to be the case, and they have fooled a lot of people in "western" countries. The real source of the problem is US imperialism. USA is the country where I live, which calls itself a democracy but is not. USA also blew up the Nordstream pipeline; it's going to be a very cold winter for a lot of people in Europe. Influencing the rulers of the USA is difficult, but they are influenced a little bit by public opinion. We need to get a lot more people telling the truth to other people: US imperialism is to blame, and we don't like it. When there are enough of us, we'll be able to stop it. FTI, I am up to my eyeballs in work and planning of the most ambitious Pan AfrIcan initiative we have ever been involved in: from 3 - 21 November, major leaders from across the continent and supporters from the HQ of Pax Christi, International Peace Bureau, International Fellowship of Reconciliation, War Resisters International and others will be gathering in person in Juba, South Sudan for a series of inter-locking conferences, seminars, meetings and events.
